ANN THOMPSON Houston's popular opera lecturer since 1975, wants everyone to enjoy his/her visit to the opera and get the most out of what today is a considerable outlay of time and money. To this purpose she has created

a small business which provides study guides for 121 titles and talks on CD for some.

ANN THOMPSON conveys a special perspective on opera thanks to an international background, a classical European education and fluency in several languages. Boundless energy and enthusiasm, indefatigable research and access to unusual sources, allied to a way with language and an eye for the relevant, allow her to present the opera goer with insights that are entertaining, informative and tied in to real life.

The novice will find her a thoughtful companion who illuminates and enriches; the aficionado will be introduced to new aspects of a familiar and beloved classic.

In 1975 she joined the volunteer docent programs of the Houston Grand Opera Guild in local schools and since 1985, the adult community at large has enjoyed her unique audio visual programs on any and every subject connected with opera. She has provided descriptive services for blind patrons and for 12 years she escorted opera tours to Europe.

Today she is a popular pre-curtain lecturer at the opera house and creates educational material about opera in print and in sound. The Library of Congress stocks her CDs for use by persons with visual impairments.
